Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Programme

The MBSR Programme is an intensive, 8-week training course, taught by certified trainers Denise Washkansky and Debbie Grusd. The workshop consists of weekly group meetings (two-hour classes) and a full-day retreat, homework, and instruction in three formal mindfulness techniques. The course has been clinically proven to heighten mindful awareness, and reduce stress through a variety of meditation practices, life skill presentations and discussion.

The programme was developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is now run in over 500 clinics worldwide. A multitude of research studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of the MBSR programme in clinical and non clinical settings.

Our mindfulness course takes place in a comfortable training area

In each of the 8 sessions a different topic related to mindfulness will be covered. There will be time allocated to practice, theory and discussion. The course is well-structured and is based on an intelligent, tried-and-tested methodology specifically designed to teach those who are new to meditation how to integrate mindfulness into their lives.

The course offers intensive training in mindfulness-based techniques for people with chronic pain and chronic illness, stress-related problems, or those simply wanting to learn how to stop living on “autopilot” and experience living in the present moment.

The course includes:

  • An initial individual consultation/assessment
  • A workbook and meditation mp3’s
  • 8 weekly sessions of 2.5 hours
  • A full day retreat on a Saturday
  • Tea & coffee will be provided

What to Bring to each meeting:

  • yoga mat, cushion and small blanket
  • water bottle for drinking
  • wear something warm and comfortable
  • eat something substantial before each session
